Types of Work Available

The guide below gives an idea as to what positions are available through Alphabet Childcare ( South West ) Ltd.  Positions become available daily so for temporary positions, call in or telephone the office.  For permanent positions, check the job bulletin or contact the office and we'll be pleased to discuss your particular requirements.

Nanny

A Nanny is defined as a child's nurse who is over the age of 18.  A nanny normally had relevant training however, he or she may be classed as a Nanny without training if they have had over two years experience of sole charge caring for children, which can be supported with good references.

Nannies are responsible for the physical, intellectual emotional and social development of the child/ren in their care, and can organise daily routines to stimulate and develop in these areas.

A Nanny is responsible for all household chores related to the children, but is not responsible for other household duties unless agreed specifically. These duties should be discussed and agreed prior to employment

Permanent Nanny (happy to commit for at least a year)

Rates Of Pay: £7.50 - £8.50 per hours (Gross) this is an average

Temporary Nanny

Average rates Of Pay: £7.50 - £8.50 gross per hours (average)

Mothers Help

A Mothers Help is usually a candidate who is less experienced than a Nanny.  They will work alongside the parent, gaining further experience whilst gradually taking some sole charge.

Temporary, permanent, full time or part time

Average rates Of Pay: £6.50 - £8 gross per hour

Housekeeper/Nanny

This role involves home management as well as childcare. The children are generally of school age or may be at Pre-school / Nursery.

Rates of pay average between £7 - £8.50 gross per hour

Babysitter

Can be ad-hoc or regular babysitting in private homes or Hotels.

 

 

 

Maternity Practitioners

Maternity Practitioners are qualified / experienced Nursery Nurses/Nannies who have further training in working with newborn babies.  They are able to advise on all aspects of baby care including routines, feeding and sleep!

Maternity Nurses can live in with the family or live out.  They can either provide 24 hours cover, or day or night cover dependant of your specific needs.

Duration of post - from 1 week to 3  months

Rates Of Pay: approx £100 - £150 for 24 hour cover

Sleep Consultants

Sleep Consultants are qualified / experienced Nursery Nurses/Nannies who  specialise in settling babies into sleep patterns.

Duration of post - generally from block of 4 nights +

Rates Of Pay: approx £150 per 24 hour cover

 

Nursery Nurses in Nurseries / Playgroups / Creches

Various rates, although temporary staff through the agency earn £7 per hour if qualified or £6.25 per hour if unqualified. This is paid weekly.

Rates Of Pay: £6.25 - £7 per hour

Contact supervision

Temporary Nursery Nurses/Nannies are employed through us on behalf of Social Services to supervise the contact of children and their families.

Rates of Pay : £7 per hour weekdays
and £10.50 per hour week-ends to be paid at half or full day rates / 4 or 8 hours
