Criminal Records Bureau

We have access to the Criminal Records Bureau for our candidates at a cost of £44.  This is not essential for registration, although we do advise our candidates to complete the process.  We ask that our candidates complete a Health and Criminal statement which we have had endorsed by Social Services. We also interview our candidates, going through all career history and applying for as many references as possible.

An Approved Childcarer

To become an approved child-carer under the government approval scheme Nannies etc, will need to send an application to the voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (vOCR) - information available from :   www.ofsted.gov.uk

To meet the criteria to register you will need :

- a recognised Paediatric First Aid certificate gained within the last 3 years and needs to cover anaphylactic shock. 

- a recognised childcare qualification such as DCE, NNEB, BTEC, NVQ levels 1 - 4.

- and as part of the process, when you make your application, you will also need to apply for a new  CRB Enhanced Disclosure / (Police) check

      The current application fee to register is:

       £100 for childminders and home childcarers

      The current Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure fee, payable by applicants is:

       £36 for the registered person

       Annual fee

       An annual fee is payable on the anniversary of the registration & is set by the Government each year.     

If a family is entitled to help with childcare through the working tax credit scheme then you must use registered childcare.  The above scheme enables Nannies to be classed as registered.
